The Box on My Porch

Postby BareKnuckles » Thu Jan 31, 2013 1:56 pm

When I arrived home today from work there was a box on my front porch! I really can't describe how excited I was  I played it off as if it were no big deal as Mrs. Knuckles was watching as I opened the box... When I finally got the box open there was some of the shiniest metal parts I've ever seen in there :-o I almost passed out

Needless to say, I can't wait to run that beautiful piece of awesomeness :obscene-buttsway:

Thank you Larry and Fester :bow-blue: :bow-blue: :bow-blue: :bow-blue: :bow-blue:

Sorry bentstick... No pics yet, I'm sorry to say... I'll have to get some this weekend when I get it all together. I need to pick up a couple of clamps and ferrules to make it work. I promise I'll take some soon...

Ha! No kidding lol.

Congrats man! To some it may be just another perchase but to me it is a gift of labor and study. I know how excited you are.

Just think how long it takes Smaug and Punkin to wrap it... pain in the ass on both ends... due to the Gorilla Freight GUY.... and how rough he handles the boxes ...

Haha.. It only took about 15 minutes to unwrap it.. Thank God it was well packed because the box was hammered...LOL...
Fester wrote:I just gotta know... Who sent the box? Larry (USA), Punkin (Australia) or Tan and me (China)?
If from Ms Tan, I KNOW it took awhile to unwrap because she got 6 big rolls of free packing tape and has been very active to use it on all the shipments

Larry shipped it Fester and did a fine job of it :handgestures-thumbupright:
Fester wrote:Oh, so not so much tape then

No fester, not too much tape..LOL... All the parts look to be in great condition and the craftsmanship looks amazing! I can't wait to get it on top of my boiler this weekend! It's really killing me to be here at work :angry-banghead:

Thanks to all who have had a hand in making this possible. Sure beats my old steam punk looking pot head..LOL...

BK I remember well when I got my SD Dash 2 ...I was gobsmacked by it...It was so beautiful that I had to make a video of it, The 2001 space odyssey video on the SD site was my response to the thrill of unpacking it. It just exceeded my expectations. I had always wanted to become a commercial distiller, and opening that box was my first step. Now less than a year later ( seems at times like a century ) I am now licensed and selling out of product almost every week. It is a hard road at times, but one I chose. But it all came from the opening of that box and the opportunities it opened up for me. Enjoy this time, life gives us few opportunities to be able to do the things we love and know we have the right tool for the job.I am happy for you. Take care.

Yep... It's a short reducer... I'll flip it when I go to run it. I have some copper pieces I plan on adding as well. Smaug, I think I need another 4x2 long reducer like the on on top in the pic. I think I'll look better too :handgestures-thumbupright: Looks like I'll be placing another order...LOL...
There is no bubble plate on the short reducer at the moment. It's above the top T....
Thanks fellas for the comments.... I'm kinda nervous about running it... Gonna be like trying to figure out the space shuttle controls.. :laughing-rolling:

Thanks FS and fester.... I'll check his tutorial out...

I've always been a low and slow kind of guy with my pot head. I really like rye whiskey. I usually just do a low and slow single run when doing rye. No strip. I normally strip everything else fast and furious...
I hope to not strip anymore with this setup.

I am looking forward to running this. I hope to have it all put together by tomorrow.

Ran the vinegar run today... Went fine until I started shutting down. The monster liebig condenser was far too heavy and it bent the copper cone lyn arm. I had it supported but not well enough(evidently)... I have it straightened out now but I think I'll reconfigure it a bit before I do the final cleaning run...
