Looks solid BW :handgestures-thumbupright: Only thing I want if it were mine is some copper in the vapour path

I agree with Res, copper is a must for a full s/s rig.

For a future upgrade, you might think about adding drains and fill ports. Looks like you should be able to move your riser over to the main boiler for stripping runs - that's a good option to have. +1 on the copper - some copper mesh in the pot head riser would probably take care of it.

Nice looking rig. Should make a nice drop and serve you well for years to come.

It would be nice to have fill ports.
There are drains if you look close zoom in.

gday woodsy,
I've got a SS system, I just put some copper mesh in the riser from the boiler on stripping runs. Not too keen on that white stuff laying around outside; you'd be better off keeping warm in the shed next to the boiler.

Agree with all the above comments. My iPad is giving me fits zooming in but is the stand a double burner for heating both boiler and thumper? Looks like a great set-up! I see some great products in your future.

So you guys have seen my new pot still. I just ran my first run of all corn mash through.
I thought the mash was tops, but i have a few concerns. Without the corn in the bottom i had about 12 gallons of mash.
I filled the 5gal thumper half way and put the rest in the boiler. I ran it very slow the beginning product was 130 proof .
I thought that was low I ran it until it went to about 80 proof. Half a gallon total yield. any comments?

Also i saved 10 gallons of the spent mash should i throw out the corn and start new with that?

THANKS Big Woods

You need to break the vacuum in your boiler when you shut down. As the boiler cools, the vacuum sucks the contents of the thumper back through the input line. If the line were to get stopped up for some reason, the vacuum could eventually collapse your boiler.

Like everyone has pointed out, I would most definitely replace your stainless tubing with copper tubing. Other than that she's a Dandy :handgestures-thumbupright:

You can leave your grain bed in the bottom of fermenter and only replace what ever was floating on top, I would throw a couple of gallons of your slops out of your boiler in the fermenter as well that way your on gen 2 of a sour mash.

Was your corn ferment an all grain or sugar head?
What was your hydrometer reading of the wash before you ran it? Alcohol percentage of wash....

Was your yield volume only the hearts of the run or is that the entire run (heads, hearts, and tails)

Also as you know yield would be better if you did stripping runs then do a final spirit run with the low wines. (Make sure you water down to 40% before you run low wines for safety reasons) no doubt you know this but some may not who are reading thread....

good info copperhead
The mash was a virgin all corn mash with enzymes it was very high in alcohol for this style of mashing.
my reflux still would of came out 170 proof with 1 run. I expected at least 150 with this pot still with thumper.
But i will say the product was excellent. Im not into no flavor spirit .therefore i rarely distill twice
