Just wondering if anyone can explain to me how these work.. the plumbing etc?. http://artisanstilldesign.com/?page_id=104
The columns off to the side of the boiler are they heated from stem that comes from the steam jacket, and is there much volume under them or does the distillate coming from the boiler vaporise as soon as it enters the column. if any one has any diagrams of how they work that would be great!

The second column is heated from the vapor coming off the first column

There is an airlock and drain back into the first column incase the second column fills

so would this work using a SD set up? this way I could easily go from stripping runs to a spirit run, and also from running rum etc to a neutral without having to change it around too much..

All you need is a couple three way valves and you'd be in business.

Why don't you reach out to VB on artisan distiller. He built and designed the rig in the picture. :-). Hell of a guy, though I haven't seen him around here
